NAB Moves to End Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case What’s Next

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore has approached the Accountability Court Lahore for final approval to close the Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case. The case involves Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.

NAB filed the application following orders issued by the Lahore High Court on February 4. The bureau requested that the Accountability Court grant approval to officially conclude the investigation. NAB officials stated that this step is in compliance with the High Court’s directives.

During the hearing, lawyer Javed Arshad Bhatti submitted a power of attorney on behalf of Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif. The Accountability Court proceedings were presided over by Judge Rana Muhammad Arif, who issued notices to all relevant parties.

The court adjourned the hearing until March 9, allowing both NAB and the petitioners time to prepare for the next session. This adjournment ensures that all parties can present additional information if necessary and that the legal process remains transparent.

The Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case has been under investigation for several years. NAB has been examining allegations of financial irregularities and misuse of company assets. Closing the investigation will be a significant development, pending the Accountability Court’s final decision.

Officials emphasized that the process is being conducted strictly according to legal procedures and in line with High Court orders. NAB has repeatedly stated that all decisions regarding the case will follow judicial guidelines.
