The City Traffic Police Murree has launched a stricter campaign against drivers operating vehicles without valid driving licenses. The operation follows special instructions issued by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Traffic Punjab Muhammad Waqas Nazir to improve road safety and ensure better compliance with traffic laws.
The enforcement drive is being carried out under the supervision of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree Munir Ahmed Hashmi. Since the campaign began, traffic police have issued hundreds of challans to motorcyclists and motorists found driving without valid licenses. Officials confirmed that legal action is also being taken against those violating the law.
According to a spokesperson for the traffic police, officers are conducting daily checkpoints and vehicle inspections at major roads, tourist routes, and other important locations across Murree. The purpose of the campaign is to discourage unlicensed driving, reduce traffic violations, and improve safety for both residents and visitors.
The spokesperson emphasized that driving without a valid license is a legal offence and urged all motorists to carry their original driving licenses whenever they travel. Authorities warned that anyone found driving without the required documents could face fines and other legal penalties under the traffic laws.
CTO Munir Ahmed Hashmi also appealed to the public to cooperate with traffic officials and strictly follow all road safety regulations. He advised drivers not to operate any vehicle or motorcycle without first obtaining a valid driving license.
He further said that following traffic rules is the responsibility of every road user and plays an important role in preventing accidents and protecting lives. Responsible driving, he added, helps create a safer environment for everyone using the roads.
The Murree Traffic Police stated that the enforcement campaign will continue in the coming days, with regular inspections taking place throughout the city. Officials urged motorists to ensure they possess valid licenses and complete all legal requirements before driving, helping authorities maintain traffic discipline and improve public safety across Murree’s busy roads.
