This devastating event resulted in the tragic loss of over 2,000 lives, with hundreds of people still missing.
The international community expressed their condolences following the natural disaster. King Mohammed VI of Morocco declared a three-day period of national mourning in the country, during which flags on government buildings will be flown at half-mast to honor the victims.

The Moroccan Royal Palace announced plans to develop a reconstruction strategy for the buildings that were destroyed in a matter of minutes. The areas most severely affected by the earthquake were the provinces of Al Haouz and Marrakesh, as well as the cities of Ouarzazate, Azilal, Chichaoua, and Taroudant.
Initially, 300 deaths were reported on the day of the earthquake, but this number later increased to 2,000, making it the deadliest earthquake Morocco has experienced in recent history. The worst calamity in Morocco’s history took place in 1960 in Agadir, where more than 12,000 people lost their lives.
At the same time, rescue teams are working tirelessly to save those trapped near the epicenter of this devastating event.
Pakistan has shown solidarity with Morocco in the aftermath of this deadly earthquake. Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar offered his condolences for the damage and loss of life caused by this catastrophic natural disaster in the North African nation.
In an official statement, the Pakistani Prime Minister expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss of life resulting from this natural calamity and extended heartfelt condolences to the Moroccan government and its people. Kakar also conveyed sympathies to the families affected by the earthquake.
He emphasized that the people of Pakistan share the pain of those affected by the severe earthquake in Morocco and offered Pakistan’s hand in unity and support during this challenging time. Prime Minister Kakar further assured that Islamabad would provide unwavering support to the Moroccan population and government, pledging all possible assistance to help them cope with the aftermath of the earthquake.
Additionally, other Pakistani politicians, including former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also expressed their sorrow over the destruction caused by the earthquake.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
