The Punjab Traffic Police have ramped up their enforcement efforts this month, issuing fines exceeding Rs. 120 million to over 60,000 people for not wearing helmets or seat belts.
A spokesperson stated the campaign aligns with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision, emphasizing that following traffic rules is a shared responsibility. The primary goal, they noted, is saving lives—not just imposing fines.

In June, more than 60,000 motorcyclists across Punjab were fined for riding without helmets, with over Rs. 15 million collected in Lahore alone. Additionally, over 14,600 drivers were fined for not wearing seat belts.
Additional IG Traffic Mirza Farhan Baig stressed that the initiative is about ensuring public safety, not generating revenue. He urged all passengers to wear seat belts and follow traffic laws. The crackdown will continue province-wide to improve road safety and rule compliance.
