More Than 100 FIRs Filed for Speeding Violations on Motorways

Motorway Police Intensify Crackdown on Over-Speeding, Register 112 FIRs

The National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) have intensified their campaign against over-speeding, registering 112 FIRs against drivers caught exceeding the 150 km/h speed limit on major motorways.

Crackdown Details

According to the NH&MP spokesperson, 112 FIRs have been registered across different motorway zones. The crackdown has been enforced on key routes, including:

  • Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M2)
  • Lahore-Multan Motorway (M3)
  • Multan-Pindi Bhattian Motorway (M4)
  • Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M5)

The Motorway Police have taken drivers into custody along with their vehicles and handed them over to local police. The registered FIRs include charges of negligence and reckless driving.

Breakdown of FIRs Filed

  • Lahore-Sialkot Motorway (M2): 8 FIRs
  • Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2): 43 FIRs
  • Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3): 8 FIRs
  • Multan-Pindi Bhattian Motorway (M4): 12 FIRs
  • Sukkur-Multan Motorway (M5): 41 FIRs

Strict Speed Limits Enforced

The NH&MP reiterated that speed limits on three-lane motorways are:

  • 120 km/h for private vehicles
  • 110 km/h for public transport

Violating these limits poses a serious threat to public safety.

Authorities Issue Warning

Inspector General of Motorway Police, Riffat Mukhtar Raja, has directed officials to intensify efforts against over-speeding. The department reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe travel and urged motorists to abide by speed limits to prevent accidents.
