Mondelez Pakistan has taken a significant step in its sustainability efforts with the launch of a large-scale solar energy project. The initiative will add approximately 2.2 MW of renewable power to its manufacturing operations, supporting the company’s long-term commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
The project expands Mondelez Pakistan’s existing 0.6 MW solar installation at its Hub, Balochistan plants with an additional 1.6 MW. Implemented in collaboration with Shams Power, the new system will allow the company to meet a major portion of its energy requirements through clean energy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving operational efficiency.
Speaking at the event, Taimoor Vohra, MSC Lead at Mondelez Pakistan, stated, “Environmental stewardship is a core part of our business. Investing in solar energy helps us reduce our environmental impact while ensuring long-term efficiency and resilience. This project reflects our commitment to a greener Pakistan.”
A spokesperson from Shams Power added, “We are proud to support Mondelez Pakistan in achieving its renewable energy goals. Collaborations like this demonstrate how companies can lead Pakistan’s transition to sustainable energy.”
The solar initiative is part of Mondelez Pakistan’s broader sustainability agenda. It aligns with the company’s global goals to reduce emissions, invest in renewable energy, and strengthen a responsible supply chain. By integrating solar energy into operations, Mondelez Pakistan sets an example of corporate responsibility and sustainable growth within Pakistan’s manufacturing sector.
This project is also expected to inspire other businesses in Pakistan to adopt renewable energy solutions. By utilizing clean energy, Mondelez Pakistan not only supports environmental conservation but also demonstrates a proactive approach to operational efficiency and long-term sustainability.
