On Tuesday, former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden expressed his admiration for the discipline exhibited by the Pakistani cricket team during their match against Australia in Hyderabad, which was part of the ICC World Cup 2023 warm-up matches. He attributed this discipline to Islam, which he believes plays a central and core role in the team’s way of life. According to Hayden, this adherence to Islamic principles translates into a greater level of discipline, a quality he highly respects, as cricket also demands a high degree of discipline.

During his commentary, Hayden emphasized the importance of commitment, investment, and consistency, noting that these values align with the cultural aspects represented by Islam. It’s worth mentioning that Australia emerged victorious in the high-scoring match against Pakistan, winning by a margin of 14 runs.

Despite noteworthy performances by skipper Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed, the Pakistan cricket team fell short in their pursuit of the 352-run target, marking their second consecutive loss in the warm-up matches. Pakistan’s next game in the ICC World Cup 2023 will be against the Netherlands at the same venue on October 6, while Australia is set to face India in Chennai on October 8.

The ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place in India, featuring 10 teams competing for the coveted title across 10 venues from October 5 to November 19. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host both the tournament opener and the final. The Cricket World Cup will follow a round-robin format, with all teams playing against each other in 45 league matches. The top four teams will qualify for the semifinals, scheduled to be held in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16, with reserve days allocated for the semi-finals and the final.
