On Friday, a convoy of the Balochistan Constabulary was attacked by armed assailants in the Mastung district. The incident led to the deaths of two security personnel and left two others injured. This Mastung attack took place while the convoy was traveling from Kalat to Quetta.
According to official sources, Acting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Abdul Razzaq and Constable Raz Muhammad were martyred in the ambush. Two other constables, Taj Muhammad and Khursheed Ahmed, were wounded and rushed to Shaheed Nawab Ghaus Bakhsh Raisani Memorial Hospital. Their condition is reported as critical.
The convoy consisted of two trucks and two pickup vehicles. Rescue teams and police responded quickly to the scene. The injured officers were transported to Quetta by helicopter for further medical treatment.
Following the Mastung attack, security forces launched an immediate search operation to find and apprehend the attackers. The provincial government condemned the attack, calling it a reflection of the frustration of those opposed to peace in the region.
A government spokesperson said such attacks would not weaken the morale of the people or security forces in Balochistan. The spokesperson also assured that a formal investigation has started and that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
