Maldives Prohibits Israeli Citizens Entry, Supporting Palestinians

In solidarity with Palestinians, the Maldives has implemented a ban on Israeli citizens’ entry into the country. The presidential office announced that laws regarding the entry of Israeli passport holders would be amended accordingly. President Mohamed Muizzu will appoint a special envoy to support the Palestinian aid campaign.

Despite being a popular tourist destination, welcoming 11,000 Israeli tourists last year, the Maldives’ decision has prompted the Israeli government to advise its citizens against traveling to the country. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recommended that Israeli citizens currently in the Maldives should depart.

This move reflects the Maldives’ stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, aligning itself with Palestinian interests. It signifies a diplomatic gesture in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, albeit impacting bilateral tourism and travel arrangements between the two nations.
