Bollywood actress and dancer Malaika Arora has released an emotional statement following the tragic death of her father, Anil Mehta. The 67-year-old reportedly took his own life on the morning of September 11 by jumping from the roof of his residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The reasons behind his suicide remain unclear, and authorities are currently investigating the circumstances.
In her statement, Malaika expressed deep sorrow, saying, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend.”

She further added, “Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
Malaika’s ex-husband, Arbaaz Khan, along with senior police officers, was spotted at her residence following the incident. Anil Mehta, a former officer in the Indian Merchant Navy, was known to be a private individual, and his sudden passing has left the family and fans in shock.
Malaika, who had a challenging childhood following her parents’ separation, has often credited her early experiences for shaping her independence and resilience. In previous interviews, she had shared how those experiences were foundational to her personal and professional life.
