Makkah and Madinah Weather Report Following First Winter Rainfall

The Saudi National Center for Meteorology has warned of severe weather across the country, forecasting heavy rainfall and potential flash floods in several regions.

Thunderstorms with intense showers are expected to continue until Tuesday, with low-lying areas at particular risk of flooding. The forecast covers Makkah, Jeddah, Madinah, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Northern Borders, Hail, Qassim, Riyadh, Eastern Province, Al-Baha, Asir, and Jazan.

The downpours may lead to water accumulation and temporary flooding in some locations. Authorities have urged residents to follow official weather updates, avoid flood-prone valleys, and exercise caution while driving under low-visibility conditions.

In Madinah, the first winter rains brought a refreshing change, with heavy showers and thunderstorms cooling the air. Visitors at the Prophet’s Mosque witnessed rain over the Dome of the Prophet (PBUH), creating a spiritual experience for many.

Meteorologists noted that rainfall intensity will vary across regions, potentially causing temporary disruptions and waterlogging. All relevant authorities remain on high alert and prepared to respond to emergencies.
