However, recent advancements in display technology showcased by LG Display at CES have addressed these concerns.
They presented two new mobile OLED concepts: a 17-inch laptop/tablet and an 8-inch smartphone-like device capable of folding in two directions.
The 17-inch tablet, while not the first of its kind, boasts an almost crease-free display, with the fold seam being barely detectable when fully extended. LG Display claims it underwent rigorous testing for up to 50,000 folds, ensuring durability.

The second concept, referred to as the “360-degree Foldable OLED,” resembles Samsung’s Galaxy Fold but folds in both directions, offering various usage modes. LG Display has also enhanced the display’s durability, with a rating of 200,000 folds, surpassing comparable devices on the market.
While it remains uncertain whether companies like Samsung will pursue two-way folding phones, LG Display’s advancements indicate that such devices could become a reality sooner than anticipated.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
