Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has announced that solar power users will now be compensated for the extra electricity they supply to the national grid.
The scheme, introduced under the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) policy, will calculate payments based on exported energy units. Each claim will undergo a detailed verification and cross-checking process before disbursement.
Consumers eligible for compensation must visit their respective LESCO offices, as payments will be processed separately from regular electricity bills. Divisional and revenue officers have been tasked with inspecting net metering connections to ensure transparency.
Following inspections, revenue offices will compile cases on a test-check proforma and forward them to the finance department. Upon approval, consumers will be issued cross cheques equal to the value of their exported electricity.
Officials noted that this initiative is designed to promote renewable energy adoption and reward consumers for contributing clean, surplus power to the grid, ultimately supporting a more sustainable energy future.
