After meeting with Dr. Aafia, Stafford Smith stated that the sexual abuse has not ceased and she remains consistently subjected to physical harassment.

Smith recounted his communications with Dr. Aafia through a glass wall using a defective phone during their meetings. After lodging a complaint with jail authorities, a new phone was provided two days later.

Additionally, Smith shared an incident involving Dr. Aafia’s sister, Dr. Fowzia. During a visit, Dr. Aafia broke down. Subsequently, prison authorities removed Dr. Aafia, leaving Dr. Fowzia locked in a separate room for one-and-a-half hours as jail officials forgot about her.

Aafia’s lawyer expressed hope of bringing her ordeal to the attention of the White House. He mentioned plans to visit Washington in the coming days but did not provide further details.
