A new weather system carrying moisture is forecast to enter Pakistan tonight, offering potential relief from prolonged dry conditions in certain regions, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
Meteorologists say the system will primarily affect northern and mountainous areas, including Murree, the Galyat region, and other high-altitude locations. These areas are expected to receive rainfall accompanied by snowfall, particularly at higher elevations, which could enhance winter conditions and improve moisture levels.
However, much of Punjab, including Lahore, is likely to remain largely dry. While some cloud cover may pass through the provincial capital, the chances of significant rainfall are minimal. Any clouds forming over Lahore are expected to dissipate without producing measurable precipitation.
The PMD has also warned that dense fog will continue to impact Lahore and several districts across Punjab during the morning and evening hours. Reduced visibility caused by fog may disrupt traffic flow, especially during early commuting hours and late at night, urging motorists to exercise caution.
Temperature-wise, Lahore is expected to experience cool but stable conditions. The minimum temperature is forecast to hover around 8.5 degrees Celsius, while daytime temperatures may climb to approximately 21 degrees Celsius. These moderate temperatures, combined with persistent fog, are likely to create a chilly feel during mornings and evenings.
Weather officials emphasized that the main effects of the incoming system will be limited to northern and hilly regions, where precipitation is more likely. In contrast, central and southern parts of the country are expected to see relatively calm weather, with dry conditions prevailing in most areas.
