Lahore’s traffic authorities have proposed a major increase in traffic fines and annual token tax to tackle congestion and rule violations.
The proposal suggests raising fines for luxury vehicles from Rs. 300–500 to Rs. 1,500–2,500, while public transport and commercial vehicle fines may increase from Rs. 500–1,000 to Rs. 1,500–3,000. Additionally, the annual token tax for private vehicles could see a 100% hike, aiming to encourage public transportation use.
