The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) also faced challenges, with 288 feeders tripping due to the continuous rain, causing widespread power outages.

Key rainfall measurements recorded across Lahore include:

  • Iqbal Town: 232 mm

In response, the Commissioner of Lahore declared a rain emergency and announced holidays for offices and schools to minimize damage. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the swift drainage of water in Lahore and other affected areas, and relevant departments have been alerted. Administrative officers and workers have been instructed to stay in the field to manage the situation.

The extensive power outages caused by the tripping of LESCO’s feeders affected many areas, including Shahdara, Shafiqabad, Kasurpura, Gulshan Ravi, Sanda, Mozang, Shadman, GOR, Lawrence Road, Samanabad, Iqbal Town, Johar Town, Township, Green Town, and Kot Lakhpat. The Chief Executive Officer of LESCO has issued a high alert to ensure the restoration of power supply. This event highlights the need for improved urban planning and infrastructure to manage such extreme weather conditions and mitigate their impact on residents and essential services.
