Passengers at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport can now apply for or renew their driving licenses without leaving the airport premises. The new facility aims to make the process more convenient for both domestic and international travelers.
According to officials, the initiative allows incoming and outgoing passengers to get their licenses made directly at the airport. This service has been introduced in collaboration with the Punjab Traffic Police and is part of the government’s efforts to digitize and streamline public services.
Authorities believe that this move will save travelers valuable time and reduce the hassle of visiting traffic offices. It especially benefits those who frequently travel abroad or return from overseas but struggle to complete license procedures due to time constraints.
The airport’s licensing center is equipped with modern systems to handle applications swiftly, ensuring an efficient and transparent process. Applicants can submit their documents, complete biometric verification, and take necessary tests all under one roof.
A representative of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) noted that this initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving citizen facilitation through technology. Plans are also underway to expand similar facilities to other major airports across Pakistan.
This step aligns with broader digital transformation goals, complementing recent service upgrades introduced by the provincial administration to enhance public convenience.
In a related development, the State Bank of Pakistan recently kept its interest rate unchanged at 11 percent, reflecting the government’s cautious approach toward stability amid ongoing reforms.
The launch of the driving license service at Lahore Airport marks another milestone in Pakistan’s push for modernized, citizen-friendly governance.
