KP Govt Extends Winter Holidays, Announces New Timings

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has opted to extend the winter holidays in the province’s summer zones until January 13, 2024.

Initially slated to conclude on December 31, 2023, the winter holidays were prolonged until January 7, 2024. However, another extension has been declared, pushing the reopening of schools to January 15, 2024, unless there is further extension.

It’s crucial to highlight that this extension pertains exclusively to primary schools, spanning from playgroup to Class 5th, encompassing both private and government institutions.

The official notification attributes this decision to the current prevailing weather conditions.

In addition, the Education Department has introduced modified school timings for Middle/High and Higher Secondary Schools in the upcoming week. Schools throughout the province will now commence at 9:30 AM instead of 8:30 AM and conclude at 3:30 PM instead of 2:30 PM.

The School Education Department clarified, stating, “The above timing schedule of school opening and closing is for one week, and after one week, the school timing will be as usual.”
