Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has introduced a free laptop scheme for students across the province, urging the Punjab government to adopt KP’s welfare-focused approach in delivering public services.
Speaking at a public gathering, Gandapur highlighted KP’s achievements in social welfare, particularly the province-wide health insurance provided through the Health Card Plus program. He announced that KP is now extending life insurance benefits and called on Punjab’s chief minister to implement similar initiatives for the province’s entire population.

“We have ensured health coverage for all and are now offering life insurance. Punjab should also provide these essential services to its people,” he stated. He added that KP’s laptop distribution would be proportional to Punjab’s initiative.
Economic Achievements
Discussing KP’s economic performance, Gandapur claimed that despite financial hurdles, his administration had boosted provincial revenue by 55% and maintained a budget surplus of Rs176 billion.
“Punjab should also strive to raise its revenue from 12% to 55%. KP is the only province that successfully met the IMF target,” he asserted. He contrasted this with Punjab’s financial performance, accusing the province of failing to meet its Rs300 billion surplus target and instead running a deficit of Rs146 billion.
Social Welfare Initiatives
Gandapur also revealed that the KP government is supporting the marriages of 4,000 deserving girls, providing each with financial assistance of Rs200,000.
“Punjab’s progress doesn’t even amount to 1% of ours. I am ready for a debate on this,” he challenged, openly calling out Punjab’s leadership.
