The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced new measures aimed at strengthening the safety and protection of female students across all public universities in the province. Under the latest directive, male teachers will no longer be allowed to hold private meetings with female students inside their offices.
The decision has been formally conveyed to university administrations through an official notification issued by the provincial Higher Education Department. Institutions have been instructed to strictly implement the policy to ensure a more secure and comfortable academic environment for women.
As part of the new framework, every department will appoint a female faculty member responsible for addressing the issues, complaints, and concerns raised by female students. This designated representative will serve as a point of contact, making it easier for students to communicate problems without hesitation. Authorities believe this step will help create trust and reduce the risk of inappropriate situations.
Furthermore, universities have been directed to organize awareness seminars at least once every three months. These sessions will focus on educating students about the harassment protection law and informing them of their rights, safeguards, and available legal remedies. The aim is to empower female students with knowledge so they can recognize and report any form of misconduct.
Officials from the Higher Education Department stated that these measures are part of broader efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and student welfare within higher education institutions. By implementing these policies, the government hopes to foster a safer, more respectful, and supportive atmosphere that prioritizes the dignity and protection of female students throughout the province
