Amna Aruj, accused in the kidnapping case of renowned Pakistani drama writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar, has been remanded to police custody for an additional four days. This development came after her initial three-day physical remand ended and she was presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore.
During the hearing, conducted by Judicial Magistrate Nabeela Amir, Aruj, who works as a model, claimed she had only invited Qamar and denied involvement in any kidnapping. Further inquiries revealed that Aruj admitted to withdrawing Rs287,000 from Qamar’s ATM, a transaction she claimed was managed by Hassan Shah, who allegedly kept the money. Considering these admissions and the ongoing investigation, Magistrate Amir extended Aruj’s custody to assist in further unraveling the case details.

Khalilur Rehman Qamar had earlier claimed he was abducted and robbed in Lahore. According to Qamar, Amna lured him to her house under the pretext of discussing a potential drama project. Upon arrival, armed men kidnapped him, releasing him after he paid a substantial ransom. The FIR states that the suspects robbed Qamar of his mobile phone, watch, cash, and transferred Rs250,000 from his ATM card. The kidnappers reportedly blindfolded him and left him in a deserted area before fleeing.
