Karachi University Shifts Classes Online Due to Ramadan

The University of Karachi has announced that it will conduct all morning classes online starting from March 9 until the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The decision was officially confirmed through a notification issued by the university administration.

According to the notification, the move has been taken to ensure convenience for students, particularly during the third Ashra of Ramadan when many students observe increased religious activities and spiritual commitments. University officials also stated that the recent rise in petroleum prices has led to transportation challenges, making it difficult for some students and faculty members to commute to campus regularly. As a result, shifting morning classes to an online format is intended to provide flexibility and reduce travel-related burdens.

The notification clarified that only morning classes will be conducted through virtual platforms, while other academic arrangements will remain unchanged unless further instructions are issued. The online system will remain in place until the conclusion of Ramadan, after which normal in-person classes are expected to resume, subject to administrative review.

University authorities emphasized that the decision was approved by the Vice Chancellor to ensure smooth academic operations while accommodating students’ needs during this period. They added that departments and faculty members have been instructed to make necessary arrangements to facilitate online teaching, including updating schedules and ensuring access to digital platforms.

This step reflects the university’s effort to adapt to changing circumstances while maintaining academic continuity. By introducing temporary online learning for morning sessions, the institution aims to balance educational requirements with practical considerations such as fuel costs, transportation difficulties, and religious observances during Ramadan.

Students have been advised to regularly check official university announcements for updates regarding class schedules and further instructions.
