Karachi Suspends Crackdown on Fancy Number Plates

Traffic police in Karachi have been instructed to remain active on city roads, with DIG Traffic Pir Muhammad Shah visiting multiple areas to oversee operations.

Pir Muhammad Shah stated that the crackdown on fancy and unapproved number plates has been paused due to adverse weather conditions, following orders from Additional IG Karachi. He emphasized that the goal of the campaign is to assist the public, not create difficulties, and confirmed that officers and personnel from all 90 traffic sections remain deployed across the city.

The DIG added that the suspension of the campaign will continue as long as the unfavorable weather persists.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Karachi police had launched a citywide operation targeting vehicles and motorcycles using fake or unapproved number plates. The initiative was directed by Additional IG Karachi Azad Khan and involved joint efforts by traffic police, district police, excise authorities, the driving licence branch, and the Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC).
