Only Forty Percent Students Pass Karachi Annual Board Exams

The Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) has announced the results of the Intermediate Part-I Commerce (Regular) Annual Board Exams 2025. The results show that only 40% of students passed all seven papers.

A total of 26,774 students were enrolled for the exams, and 25,907 appeared to take the tests. Among them, 10,399 candidates cleared all seven papers. The remaining students passed between one and six papers.

The detailed results show that 3,293 students passed six papers, 3,213 cleared five, and 2,572 passed four papers. Additionally, 2,280 students passed three papers, 1,732 cleared two, and 1,510 students passed only one paper.

Controller of Examinations Zarina Rashid stated that the results reflect both the challenges faced by students and the progress made as they work toward completing their intermediate education. She emphasized that the results provide an overview of first-year commerce students’ performance across Karachi colleges.

BIEK officials noted that the outcome highlights the need for better preparation and consistent study habits. They also said the board is reviewing the exam structure to ensure fair assessment and accurate measurement of student knowledge.

The Annual Board Exams are a critical step for commerce students. Passing these exams is necessary to move on to the next stage of intermediate education. Despite the low pass rate, educators believe students can improve in future exams with proper guidance.

Officials encouraged students to carefully analyze their results and focus on subjects where performance was low. Parents and teachers are urged to provide support and additional help to improve learning outcomes.
