The seismic activity is being linked to the Landhi fault line, which runs beneath parts of the city. The earthquakes have ranged from mild to moderate intensity on the Richter scale.
Breakdown of tremors by area:
- Malir: 11 earthquakes
- DHA: 10 earthquakes
- Quaidabad: 3 earthquakes
- Korangi: 1 earthquake
- Gadap: 1 earthquake
Amir Haider Leghari, Director at the National Tsunami Centre, stated that these tremors are caused by the release of accumulated underground energy. This gradual release reduces the risk of a major earthquake, but authorities remain vigilant as aftershocks may continue in the coming days.
Residents are advised to stay informed through official channels and take necessary precautions while authorities continue monitoring the situation closely.
