Karachi Implements Strict Fines to Combat Public Littering

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has initiated a strict crackdown on public littering, imposing fines of up to 50,000 rupees and potential imprisonment of up to three years for violators.

In an effort to address the increasing problem of waste disposal on streets and sidewalks, the KMC has issued warnings to numerous restaurants and businesses throughout the city.

These notices, issued under the Sindh Local Government Act, emphasize the illegality of dumping waste in public areas.

A KMC spokesperson stated that strict measures would be taken against individuals and establishments breaching cleanliness regulations. Violators could face hefty fines or imprisonment as the municipal body strives to uphold environmental standards in the city.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab assured that municipal inspectors would actively enforce these laws to ensure compliance. “We are dedicated to keeping the city clean and will take all necessary steps against those who fail to follow the rules,” he stated.
