Karachi Expected to Witness Rain, Thunder Starting Tomorrow

Karachi is likely to receive rain with wind and thunderstorms on Monday, as per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), which has predicted light to moderate showers continuing till Tuesday, providing relief from the prevailing heat.

The Met Department said the city will remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours with partly cloudy skies. The temperature may rise up to 37°C, and humidity currently stands at 72%, with winds blowing at 18 km/h.

Rain is expected at isolated spots across Karachi, varying between light and moderate intensity.

Earlier, Met officials reported that a westerly wave was influencing upper and central parts of the country and would likely persist till Monday. Most regions are expected to remain hot and dry, especially in the plains.

Partly cloudy weather with chances of dust storms and rain-thunderstorms may occur at isolated locations in Northeast and South Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, parts of Sindh, Northeast Balochistan, Azad Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Rainfall was also observed in several cities including Gujrat, Islamabad, Murree, Kalam, and Rawalakot.

Meanwhile, Saturday’s highest temperature was 49°C in Turbat and Pasni, while Karachi’s air quality index (AQI) stood at 112 with PM2.5 levels eight times higher than WHO guidelines.
