Karachi Braces For Thunderstorms As Balochistan Faces Hail And Gusty Winds

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued an advisory warning of wind and thunderstorms expected in the outskirts of Karachi, while several districts of Balochistan prepare for rain, hailstorms, and strong winds. Karachi is set to experience hot and humid weather over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35 and 37°C, and relative humidity peaking at 72 percent.

Though central Karachi is likely to stay dry, the PMD cautioned that peripheral areas could witness thunderstorms and gusty winds later in the day. Dry winds from the east, currently blowing at 6 km/h, are expected to persist, adding to the discomfort caused by high temperatures and humidity.

In Balochistan, more severe weather is forecasted, with districts such as Kalat, Sibi, Barkhan, Kohlu, Qila Saifullah, and Musakhel on alert for rain, hail, and powerful winds. Other regions, including Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, and Khuzdar, could also experience abrupt weather shifts, with rainfall under partly cloudy skies and the risk of heavier downpours in some areas.

Authorities have advised residents in susceptible districts to remain vigilant and stay updated on weather alerts due to the risk of windstorms and potential flash flooding. Maximum temperatures in Balochistan on Thursday touched 43°C in Sibi and Nokundi, while Quetta and Gwadar recorded 34°C.
