Karachi Braces for Isolated Showers and Thunderstorms

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms in Karachi today (Monday) and Tuesday, with the possibility of dust storms in some areas. While Sunday remained hot and humid, suburban and isolated parts of the city may experience scattered showers in the coming days.

A westerly wave is currently influencing the country’s upper regions, while moist winds are entering eastern Sindh. As a result, several districts, including Ghotki, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Qambar Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, Khairpur, Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, and Shaheed Benazirabad, could see light to moderate rain with thunder. Similar conditions are expected in Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Hyderabad, Matiari, Thatta, Sajawal, and Badin until June 17.

Despite the rain, Sindh is likely to remain hot and humid, with partly cloudy skies. Karachi’s temperatures may hover between 36°C and 38°C, with morning humidity reaching 80% and dropping to around 55% by evening. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts.
