Karachi Board Announces Relief for Matric Students

The Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi has announced significant relief for matriculation students who were unable to reach their designated examination centers on the first day of the annual exams. Addressing the media during his visit to an examination facility at Pilot Girls Higher Secondary School, he stated that students who missed their exams for any reason would be given the opportunity to appear at the nearest available center.

He confirmed that clear instructions have already been issued to center superintendents, directing them to accommodate such students and ensure they are not deprived of their chance to sit for the exams. This decision aims to ease difficulties faced by students and prevent academic loss due to unforeseen circumstances.

The matric examinations for Classes 9 and 10 officially commenced in Karachi on Friday, with the Class 10 computer science paper conducted on the opening day. During his visit, the chairman inspected the arrangements at the examination center and expressed satisfaction with the overall management and environment. He noted that more than 385,000 students are participating in the exams across the city in a peaceful manner.

To facilitate the large number of candidates, authorities have established 521 examination centers, while 51 vigilance teams have been deployed to oversee the process and curb any form of malpractice. Despite these arrangements, the chairman acknowledged certain challenges, including a reduced number of centers in government schools. He explained that some teachers in public institutions failed to fully cooperate, while a shortage of furniture in these schools also contributed to the limitation.

Additionally, the board has implemented strict monitoring measures, keeping a constant check on the transportation of question papers through a dedicated control room to ensure their safe and timely delivery to all examination centers.
