The unprecedented U.S. presidential election enters its final day, with Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in a last-ditch campaign push on Monday. Despite months of intense events, voters remain deeply divided, and a winner may not emerge until days after Tuesday’s vote, though both candidates express optimism.
Early voting has reached over 78 million, about half of 2020’s total turnout, and both campaigns are saturating social media, TV, radio, and engaging directly with voters in a final effort. The candidates sprinted through key swing states, aiming to sway undecided voters with only 36 hours before Election Day.

In Michigan, Harris targeted voters upset over the Gaza conflict, while Trump intensified his rhetoric in Pennsylvania, making a controversial comment about journalists. Trump predicted a “landslide,” while Harris declared, “momentum is on our side.”
The 2024 race is down to the wire, with swing states more contested than in past elections. Harris spent Monday in Michigan, working to retain support from the large Arab-American community critical of U.S. actions in Gaza. She plans to await results at her alma mater, Howard University, in Washington.
Meanwhile, Trump crisscrossed Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia, key swing states, and will return to Palm Beach to vote and await results. His campaign has doubled down on aggressive rhetoric, with Trump making dark comments about the media and alleging baseless election fraud by Democrats. He vows “retribution” if re-elected, hoping economic concerns will propel him to victory.
As the campaign closes, Trump insulted Harris, calling her “low IQ” and urging, “Kamala, you’re fired.” Both candidates focus on Pennsylvania, with rallies planned in Pittsburgh, the state’s most contested city. Harris will end her day with a high-profile rally in Philadelphia featuring stars like Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Oprah Winfrey.
The 2024 race reflects a deeply polarized U.S., split between two candidates with starkly different visions. Harris’s team credits a vast grassroots mobilization effort, while outgoing President Biden remains largely absent from the campaign after a recent gaffe. Harris will conclude her campaign in Biden’s hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania, as the final votes loom.
