The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government has announced the resumption of operations in Kurram district following the completion of the first phase of a military operation aimed at clearing the region of illegal bunkers and weapons. The decision includes sending four convoys of vehicles loaded with essential supplies to Kurram by the end of this month.
Security forces have intensified their efforts with house-to-house searches in Bagan and have begun the repair work of mosques that were damaged during the conflict. Tragically, the bullet-ridden body of a fifth driver, who had gone missing after the attack on an aid convoy, was found in central Kurram. The bodies of four other drivers were recovered shortly after the deadly attack.

According to the district’s deputy commissioner, the coordinated efforts of the civil administration, police, security forces, and local advisers have led to significant successes during the first phase of the operation, including the recovery of a large cache of illegal weapons. Plans are ongoing to continue clearing the district of lawless elements.
A high-level meeting chaired by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday reviewed the current situation in Kurram. The meeting concluded with the decision to continue demolition of illegal bunkers and emphasized the need to implement the Kurram peace agreement through a Jirga involving its signatories.
