Jail Sentence Due To War For Honor – Bushra Bibi

In an informal conversation with journalists after the trial court sentenced her and Imran Khan to seven years in jail, Bushra Bibi described their ongoing legal battle as a war for honor. She emphasized the significance of “Iddat” and stated that Allah Almighty has provided guidance on such matters in the Holy Quran. Referring to the court’s ruling as a “decision by Iblees (devil),” she expressed her dissatisfaction with the verdict.

The legal dispute revolves around a petition filed by Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband, Khawar Maneka, who alleged that her marriage to the former prime minister was un-Islamic and illegal.\

The court’s verdict declared the nikah and marriage ceremony null and void, citing the absence of the required iddah period. As a result, the court imposed a seven-year jail term and a fine of Rs500,000 on both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi. Both were present in the courtroom when the verdict was announced.
