Jaffer Express service set to restart tomorrow

Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has announced that Jaffer Express train services in Balochistan will resume tomorrow.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, he confirmed that the Jaffer Express will depart from Peshawar to Quetta, while services from Quetta to other destinations will restart on Friday. He assured that passenger safety remains a priority.

Additionally, the Bolan Mail will now run daily between Quetta and Karachi to better serve travelers.

Addressing the recent attack on Jaffer Express, Abbasi called it a tragic event but commended security forces for their swift action in neutralizing the attackers. He also praised the Railway Divisional Superintendent and his team for their role in rescuing passengers and repairing tracks.

Acknowledging security gaps, he admitted that railway stations lack proper scanning equipment but assured that measures are being taken to improve security. Plans include recruiting 500 personnel for the Railway Police, with another 1,000 hires in progress.

Abbasi reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring train operations in Balochistan to their 2003-2004 levels, with enhanced security measures to ensure passenger safety.
