Israel conducted an airstrike targeting the home of Ali Allam, the director of Dar Al Amal Hospital in the Baalbek district of eastern Lebanon, killing him and six other hospital staff members. The strike is part of Israel’s ongoing aggression in Lebanon, which has severely affected the health sector, with hospitals and medical personnel being deliberately targeted. The Lebanese Health Ministry condemned the attack and called on the international community to stop Israel’s targeting of the healthcare system.
Since the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah intensified in late September, Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon have killed 214 medical workers, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry. Over 3,600 people have been killed and 15,300 injured by Israeli attacks, with more than 1 million displaced. The health sector in both Lebanon and Gaza is struggling to cope with the mounting casualties and deteriorating conditions.
The conflict has led to over 44,000 Palestinian deaths and more than 104,000 injuries in Gaza since October 7, 2023. In Lebanon, at least 3,645 people have been killed, and 15,355 injured in the same period. The international community, including the UN, has raised concerns about the escalating humanitarian crisis and called for urgent action to protect civilians and healthcare facilities in both regions.
