At least 100 Palestinians, including 35 children, were killed overnight in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza, marking the deadliest assault since the temporary truce ended. The strikes targeted densely populated areas, leaving hospitals overwhelmed and families searching through rubble for survivors.
Gaza’s Health Ministry confirmed that dozens of residential buildings were destroyed, with most casualties reported in Rafah and Khan Younis. Rescue teams struggled to reach victims due to collapsed infrastructure and a severe shortage of fuel and medical supplies.
Eyewitnesses described the bombings as relentless, saying entire neighborhoods were flattened within minutes. The attacks have displaced thousands more civilians, forcing many to seek shelter in overcrowded schools and hospitals already running beyond capacity.
Israel claimed the airstrikes were aimed at Hamas command centers and weapon depots hidden in civilian areas. However, Palestinian officials dismissed those claims, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting non-combatants and violating international humanitarian law.
The United Nations and international rights groups have condemned the strikes, calling for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians. UN officials warned that continued bombings could trigger a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe in the enclave.
Tensions have surged since the breakdown of peace efforts last month, with both sides trading accusations and violence escalating daily. Diplomatic attempts by Egypt and Qatar to broker another ceasefire have so far failed to halt the bloodshed.
