Islamabad United Secures PSL 9 Playoffs With Historic Chase

Islamabad United achieved a historic feat by completing the highest successful run chase in the history of Pakistan Super League Season 9 on Thursday. This victory secured their place in the PSL 9 playoffs alongside Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi.

Facing a challenging target of 229 runs, Islamabad United initially suffered setbacks, losing early wickets. However, a resilient partnership between captain Shadab Khan and Colin Munro, worth 141 runs, rejuvenated their hopes. Shadab scored 54 runs off 31 balls, complemented by Munro’s explosive 84 off 40 balls.

In the first innings, Multan Sultans’ Usman Khan achieved a milestone by scoring his second century in a single PSL edition, reaching 100 off 50 balls. His partnership with Johnson Charles (42 off 18 balls) propelled Multan to a total of 228 runs.

Ultimately, Imad Wasim’s composed leadership secured a thrilling three-wicket win for Islamabad United over Multan Sultans. Colin Munro and Shadab Khan played crucial roles in guiding the hosts to the playoffs with their impactful half-centuries.
