Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police Inspector General (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi chaired a command conference at Safe City Islamabad on Friday, finalizing a detailed security plan for August 13 and 14 to maintain law and order during Independence Day celebrations.
Senior officers, including all DIGs, SSPs, AIGs, and SPs, attended the meeting, where performance reports were presented. DIGs shared security strategies for the events, while the Traffic Division outlined measures to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The IGP warned that any disorder, fireworks, aerial firing, or one-wheeling would be strictly prohibited, with legal action against offenders. He also vowed a crackdown on illegal weapons. Commending SP City Salman Zafar, he highlighted the decline in car and motorcycle thefts due to ongoing crackdowns, special checkpoints, and patrols, aided by Safe City Islamabad’s role in crime prevention and traffic management.
Rizvi said large-scale search and combing operations were ongoing and would continue until Independence Day. He instructed DIGs to personally monitor arrangements and directed the DG Safe City to develop more public service apps. He stressed using modern techniques to enhance citizen services while prioritizing law and order, crime prevention, and public safety.
