ISIS Claims Moscow Shooting, Death Toll 115

ISIS-K, an Afghan offshoot of Daesh, seeks global expansion following the Moscow concert attack, resulting in numerous Russian casualties and injuries. The terror group has intensified its focus on Moscow since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. It previously conducted twin bombings in Iran, claiming nearly 100 lives. ISIS-K and its allies maintain a stronghold in Afghanistan, actively expanding their networks worldwide.

As of Saturday evening, the death toll from Russia’s deadliest shooting in two decades has risen to 115, with 187 people injured, including eight children, according to Russia’s state-run agency. Following the attack, Moscow’s Mayor canceled all weekend mass gatherings, and various Russian departments, including railways and civil aviation, have bolstered security measures.

Russian authorities apprehended two suspects believed to be involved in the Moscow attack in the Bryansk region after a car chase. Other suspects fled into a nearby forest and are currently being pursued.

Pakistan and Chinese leaders have strongly condemned the terror attack in Moscow, with Chinese President Xi Jinping expressing condolences to President Putin and affirming Beijing’s staunch opposition to terrorism. The EU has also denounced the attack, expressing solidarity with the affected Russian citizens and condemning all assaults against civilians.
