Peshawar Zalmi Director Inzamamul Haq has shed light on the decision behind Babar Azam’s change in batting position during the ongoing tenth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Speaking at a post-match press conference, Haq revealed that it was Babar himself who opted to bat at number three instead of his usual opening slot.
According to Haq, Babar believed that giving Mitchell Owen the chance to open would allow the team to maximize power-hitting opportunities early in the innings. “Babar Azam is a world-class player, and his decision was aimed at strengthening the team’s overall strategy,” Haq noted.

He further highlighted that if Babar manages to enhance his strike rate in this new role, it would benefit the national side as well. “Improving his strike rate will be advantageous for the entire Pakistan team,” Haq added.
Inzamam also praised young Maaz Sadaqat for his composed innings. He stated that Maaz was given the opportunity at the perfect moment and made the most of it with a mature performance.
