In a remarkable story of love crossing borders, a 26-year-old German doctor traveled to Pakistan to marry a 22-year-old man from Mandi Bahauddin after the two met online through the gaming platform Roblox.
The journey began when Muhammad Akmal, a resident of village Difar in Mandi Bahauddin, connected with Dr. Selma while playing an online game. What started as casual conversations during gameplay soon developed into regular chats and emotional attachment. Over time, their bond deepened, and the online friendship transformed into a serious relationship built on trust and affection.
According to Akmal, he expressed his intention to marry Selma on the very first day they connected online. Despite geographical distance, cultural differences, and initial challenges, the couple continued communicating for around five months. Their strong emotional connection eventually led Selma to make a bold decision—to travel to Pakistan and formalize their relationship.
Selma arrived in Pakistan shortly afterward, and the couple got married in a well-attended ceremony. Both families supported the marriage, making the event a joyful celebration. Akmal shared that the total wedding and travel expenses amounted to approximately Rs45 lakh.
Selma openly spoke about the cultural adjustments she had to make after moving to a Pakistani village. She said rural life was completely new for her, including daily household tasks such as making roti, washing clothes, and managing routine chores. While the transition was challenging at first, she embraced the experience with patience and determination, driven by her love for Akmal.
Holding dual German and Bosnian citizenship, Selma has expressed her desire to live permanently in Pakistan with her husband.
