In a shocking incident in Rajasthan, India, a 25-year-old man who was declared dead by doctors was found to be alive just moments before his funeral pyre was about to be lit.
The man, identified as Rohitash Kumar, tragically passed away during treatment shortly after the discovery, as confirmed by officials on Saturday.
Kumar, who had both speaking and hearing impairments, fell ill on Thursday in Jhunjhunu district and was rushed to a local hospital. Despite his critical condition, doctors initially pronounced him dead upon arrival, with a diagnosis of an epileptic seizure.

However, a vital postmortem examination, which is necessary to confirm the cause of death, was not conducted. Instead, Kumar was sent straight to the mortuary, where preparations for cremation were underway according to Hindu customs.
D. Singh, the hospital’s chief medical officer, acknowledged the negligence, revealing that a doctor had issued the postmortem report without performing the required examination. Singh further explained that the body began showing signs of movement just before the funeral pyre was lit, revealing that Kumar was still alive and breathing.
Kumar was quickly returned to the hospital, but sadly, he passed away the following day during treatment.
In response to the incident, three doctors involved have been suspended, and an investigation by the police is underway to address the procedural lapses in the medical process.
