India Responds To Saudi-Pakistan Mutual Defence Agreement Announcement

India has responded cautiously to reports of a strategic defence agreement between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. The Indian government said it is monitoring the development and will carefully assess its implications for national and regional security.

An official from India’s External Affairs Ministry confirmed that New Delhi has been following reports of the pact closely. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the agreement formalizes a long-standing arrangement between Riyadh and Islamabad.

“The government will study the implications of this defence agreement for our national security, as well as for regional and global stability,” Jaiswal said. He emphasized that India remains committed to safeguarding its strategic interests.

The historic defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia positions Pakistan as a partner in the protection of the Two Holy Mosques. It strengthens defence cooperation between the two nations, integrating military capabilities and ensuring that any external armed attack on one country will be treated as an attack on both.

Officials highlighted that the pact builds on decades of bilateral ties, including joint military training, multilateral exercises, and defence industry collaboration. It also aims to promote peace and consolidate regional security.

India stressed that its national security preparedness remains comprehensive and multi-dimensional. “The government remains fully committed to protecting India’s national interests across all domains,” Jaiswal said.

Analysts note that the Saudi-Pakistan defence agreement reflects deep strategic cooperation between the two countries. For India, officials said, the pact will be carefully reviewed to understand its impact on security dynamics in the region.

With this agreement, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan aim to jointly confront threats, enhance defence capabilities, and strengthen military coordination. The move is considered a significant milestone in the defence relations between the two nations.
