PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, addressed the media outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, stating that a High Court judge has indicated that, in accordance with the measures imposed on the former prime minister, a death penalty could potentially be imposed.

Aleema Khan declared that if justice is not served, she intends to go to the United States and file a case against former US diplomat Donald Lu. Imran Khan had accused Lu of orchestrating the no-confidence vote that led to his removal in April 2022. The alleged communication between Donald Lu and a Pakistani diplomat in a diplomatic cipher sent to Islamabad caused a significant uproar in Pakistan.

The United States has unequivocally denied the accusations made by the PTI chairman against Donald Lu. Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Elizabeth Horst stated that the US has publicly and privately rejected these claims.

Aleema Khan claimed that the American Embassy was deeply involved in the Cipher case, expressing concern that there might be an attempt to replicate the Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto incident. She emphasized that times have changed.

Furthermore, she conveyed her satisfaction with Imran Khan’s current health condition in jail and questioned the justification for imposing such measures on the former prime minister, asking what crime he had committed.
