Are IMF and EU Officials Really Visiting Imran Khan in Jail?

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, claimed that representatives from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Union (EU) routinely visit Imran Khan, the party chairman, who is currently detained in Adiala Jail.

Elahi, who appeared in Lahore’s Special Court (Central) for a money laundering case, confirmed this statement through his lawyer, Amir Saeed Rawn. Elahi, also in Adiala, mentioned during discussions with reporters that Imran Khan is housed in a neighboring cell.

He asserted that Imran Khan is expected to secure a significant number of votes in the upcoming polls, with representatives from the EU and IMF reportedly visiting him.

While expressing solidarity with Imran Khan, Elahi assured reporters that the election date aligns with the directives of the Supreme Court and pledged that there would be no rigging. Without directly naming Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif, he referred to them as two “laadlas” (favorites) allegedly imposed on the nation. Elahi criticized the PDM government led by Shehbaz Sharif for causing substantial inflation and urged recognition of their diminishing vote bank in Punjab.

Elahi expressed optimism that the public would prevent the Sharif brothers from rigging the ballot this time and vehemently rejected all charges against himself, dismissing them as baseless.
