Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), addressed allegations that he incited violence during the May 9 riots. In a statement on social media, Khan argued that the narrative against him is part of a broader agenda to discredit him and his party. He asserted that PTI has a history of non-violent protests and criticized the use of harsh tactics against his party over the past two and a half years.

Khan recounted various incidents, including an assassination attempt in November 2022 and attacks on his residence by military personnel. He suggested that the public outcry on May 9 was a reaction to his arrest and the perceived mistreatment of a prominent political figure.
He described the May 9 events as a “false flag operation” and criticized the removal of CCTV footage, likening the situation to the Capitol Hill protests in the U.S., where investigations focused on individual accountability rather than implicating an entire political party.
