[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]Lahore police filed a case against Imran Khan, the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing him of issuing threats to the joint investigation team (JIT) responsible for investigating the riots in Punjab after the arrest of a former prime minister in a corruption case on May 9.

The six-member JIT, consisting of a deputy inspector general of police (DIG), a senior superintendent of police (SSP), and four superintendents of police (SPs), had called Imran Khan to provide a statement about the violent incidents.

The FIR was registered against Imran Khan based on a complaint from Muhammad Sarwar, the in-charge of the Qila Gujar Singh police station in Lahore, where the JIT operates. The complaint alleged that during his appearance before the JIT at the Sarwar Road police station, Imran pointed his finger at the head of the JIT and its members, warning that they would not be safe if the PTI government returned to power.

The complaint further stated that such actions hindered an impartial investigation. Imran Khan refuted the accusation, maintaining that the protesters acted independently and voluntarily during the incidents.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
