IHC Orders to Release Imran Khan, Suspends Conviction in Toshakhana Case

The recent conviction of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan on corruption charges has been suspended by a two-judge bench of the Islamabad High Court.

Khan has been imprisoned since August 5, when he was sentenced to three years in prison on allegations of illegally selling state goods while serving as Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022.

The country’s election body also disqualified Khan from running in elections for the next five years as a result of his sentence.

The cricketer-turned-politician is currently detained in the northern Attock city, where he has been charged in over 100 cases since his expulsion in April 2022 via a no-trust vote.
