Iconic Poet Parveen Shakir Remembered on 29th Death Anniversary

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The 29th death anniversary of Pakistan’s iconic poet, Parveen Shakir, who passed away on December 26, 1994, was commemorated by the Parveen Shakir Trust (PST) on Tuesday.

At 11:30 am on Tuesday, literary figures, colleagues of the poet, friends, and members of the Trust gathered at H-8 graveyard to honor the enduring spirit and literary contributions of one of Pakistan’s most revered poets.

Born on a rainy day in November 1952 in Karachi, Parveen Shakir received the Pride of Performance award for her exceptional contributions to literature.

Among her notable poetic works are Sad-barg, Khud Kalami, and Inkar, compiled in the book Mah-e-Tamam.

Tragically, Parveen Shakir lost her life in a road accident in Islamabad in 1994 at the age of forty-two.

Her literary legacy includes several books, starting with her debut collection, Khushboo, published in 1977. Her final work, Inkaar, was published in 1990, with Sadburg and Khudkalami released in between.

Additionally, a posthumous collection titled Kafe-Aina was published in 1996.
